FAQ

Who Are You?

My name is Bill Colrus.

I’ve worked in radio and television.

I’ve worked as writer, editor, and producer for a multimedia production company.

I was once a news anchor for a radio station for the blind. For real.

I waited tables and tended bar intermittently for close to a decade, and spent a few months working as a purchasing assistant for a douche factory. For real.

I created and produced two kinda-funny local TV shows.

I’ve been a reporter and columnist for a handful of newspapers, and was the founding editor of an alternative newsweekly in Chattanooga, Tennessee from 2003 to 2007.

In October of 2007, I took a managing editor position with a custom publishing firm, where I oversee editorial content for a handful of print and online healthcare publications. I like my job. A lot.

I am a proud native of Madison, Connecticut and a proud graduate of Daniel Hand High School and the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. I’ve been proudly married to my wife, Melissa, since 1999. (We started dating in 1992 while we were both in high school.) We are the proud parents of one son, an energetic little bundle of joy named Sam.

I have been a Red Sox fan since long before everybody else became a Red Sox fan. Like, 1978 to be exact. (Bad year to start, I know, but cut me some slack. I was 4.)

I have an enormous audio and video collection.

I am a conservative and an independent. I am partial to traditional values, embrace emerging technologies, and am far more interested in people than issues. I am as willing to change my mind about the things I’m not sure about as much as I am unwilling to change my mind about the things I believe in.

What’s This Site All About?

Well, it’s pretty simple: This blog is a hobby. I post a blend of local, national, and global news items and, often, my thoughts about them. You read (or don’t) and respond (or don’t). I then pretend that what I’m doing is changing the world. Or something.

How Often Do You Post?

Well, I’d like to say that I post every day, but, after blogging for five years, I know that not very likely. Basically, I will try to blog as much as I can, for as long as it interests me.

Can I Contribute?

Right now, this is a one-man show. But if you’re getting sick of blogging alone, and would like to discuss, perhaps, blogging together, drop me a line. Who knows. Anything can happen.

What’s Up with the Light Bulb?

1. I thought it looked cool.
2. I’m often writing at night, using one tiny lamp so as to not wake anybody up.
